A film about displacement, diaspora, and the importance of staying connected.
When the Syrian war broke out in 2011, families were separated overnight. Back in the States, Layla and her family replaced annual trips with a new WhatsApp group.
Even/Odd, and director Mohammad Gorjestani, collaborated closely with Modern Arts to bring this story to life — creating a short film that highlights how WhatsApp helped a family feel close amidst the disorienting aftermath of war.
