A mix between documentary and performance film, this two-part series directed by Mohammad Gorjestani, is an intimate study of two of the most influential Bay Area rappers—the late Zumbi (Zion I) and Boots Riley (The Coup).

Stephen Gaines is a father of 3 young black boys growing up in Oakland, CA. He is also known as Zumbi, the frontman of the prolific underground hip-hop duo, Zion I. In this intimate portrait and performance piece, Zumbi reflects on his legacy and the question of artistic integrity vs. mainstream success.
