Even/Odd's research team scouted all across Michigan to find cannabis users who have faced criminalization and stigmatization—so they could tell their side of the story.
Director Mohammad Gorjestani created a visual language for the film inspired by cannabis culture—blending 35mm character vignettes with surreal 3D design and VFX.
The film is the centerpiece of Common Citizen's commitment to invest in communities impacted by redlining & disproportionate criminalization. To date, $500,000 has been reinvested.
Even/Odd amplified the film's reach through earned media, film festivals, and partnering with Nowness for an exclusive online premiere. The film went on to qualify for the 85th Academy Awards.
