An award-winning film about the brutality of war, and a Veteran community using dance as a medium of healing and redemption.
After two combat tours in the Iraq War, Roman Baca came home ravaged with depression, anxiety, and regret. As a way to cope, he turned to his childhood passion of ballet, and founded Exit 12—a dance company led by Veterans and military families.
Exit 12 is part of For Every Dream—a groundbreaking film series Even/Odd created for Square.
The film won the SXSW Grand Jury Prize and Vimeo Best of the Year. It was acquired by Fox Searchlight making it the first branded film to qualify for the Academy Awards.
“Exit 12 is one of the best and most vital short films of recent vintage.”
